My Families

Isn't this nice... Hehe. Went to Orchard with Vic, Joyce & Andrew on Monday. Shop shop shop.

We went Tian Tian Huo Guo for dinner. We were so full by the time we left that place. And we went shopping again. Btw, Tian Tian not so nice la.

Have been having alot of family gatherings. Love to go out with Vic's family. They are very nice people. Straight forward. Expressive. Fun-loving. And also, i like the way Vic is with his family. So cute. Haha... He's always behaving like a "kid" cousin to his cousins. Pian-Chi-Pian-He. Hahaha... We always have a good time.

Before we shifted to stay with Vic's parents, coming back to his parents' place is always a highlight for me. Cos all his cousins will be back to visit their grandfather and the family. It will be sooooo noisy the whole day. Loud yelling and shouting. Very kua zhang reactions to things and discussions. There will be the "Zheng Dang", the "Fan Dui Dang" and also the "Mei You Dang". And whenever the discussions became too heated, we will "bu huan er shan". But within minutes, the heated discussions will somehow be forgotten. And we will be eating together again and maybe starting on another round of discussion. Haha. This is quite an interesting family.

On the other hand, my family is more serious. Or rather, we are considered people of few words??? haha... Went to back home for lunch today. Had my favorite curry chicken done by my mum cos Vic requested for it previously. My bro & his wife came back with their baby daughter too. We spent most of the time playing with the baby. Not much exchange took place during that 2 hours. Just very simple. But I know my mum would always look forward for me to go home for a meal with the family. I think she wish that I can go back more often and probably spend more time listening to all her "stories" etc. Well, it makes me feel so guilty just to think of that. Hmmm... Next year... Next year i will make up for it. :)

And I am counting down to Dec 28... Going Taiwan with Vic. He is so excited. Ya. Haven't gone overseas alone for so long.... A good time for me to recuperate in many ways too. I love Vic in those "strong-conviction-mode". He may not have any explanation for it, but he will do it no matter what. I dint reali tell him, but i reali need the break overseas. The trying-to-be-strong me will not want to go away at this time. But with all the recent happenings, I think I should go for a break. Get the foundations strong again.

In Taiwan with Vic

Start:     Dec 28, '07
End:     Jan 2, '08

Liverpool vs Man U

This is how excited the 2 brothers are...

But look at Vic and u will know what just happened... Man U just ended 1st half with a goal!! There are 2 camps in the house now. The 2 Man U fans and the 3 Liverpool fans. I am no fans of soccer. Their screamings are deafening. Ok. Vic is going to get his coffee-fix after a devastating 1st-half.

Ok enough of Man U and Liverpool. I am having a short half-time break now. Let me get my mind off soccer for a while before returning to it. O man!

Yestrdy, I woke up with a "weird" back that gives me a bit of pain. The pain got worse through the day. And I even teared in pain before i slept at night. This morning the pain seem to have got worse. Tomorrow is supposed to be a shopping day. I hope i will be fine by tmr. Going to pop pain-killers later.

Anyway, yestrdy went to Kbox for the 2nd time with Vic!!! So honored. But on the condition that i pay for it.  Ha. Still I'm so happy.

Yesterday, Pst Kong preached a VERY VERY VERY good and strong msg. It sent a "WOW" through my spirit. Wow...

From tradition to transition to transformation.

For my friend, i am still praying for you. This is not your end. Dun accept it. My heart grieves and mourns for your many wrongs but it prays for your haste return.

To my friend and the fans: We never walk alone!

Wanna see a glimpse of Vic's dancing??

He was supposed to be "sabo-ed" to dance. Well, having the gift of the gap, he sabo-ed everyone else. And I smartly escaped as I offered my help with the mic from the MC, Johnson and then passed to the Sutian. And before u knew it, I was on the floor again taking this video. Haha.

Darling is so onz... Dance leh... Shld have got our "Fire Queen" Veron up as well...

Sean's performance

He's the superstar of the camp. The rest of the guys went up the stage halfway and tried to "steal" the limelight. Haha.

This is what they learnt in the afternoon...

Youth Camp Dec 9-11 @ St Francis Methodist Sch

We had a very good time!! These are just photos of one of the games we had.

Our Youth Camp

See that?? Haha... We played a game "Game of Life" during the camp and Johnson was supposed to be a nurse. When it comes to Johnson, we are all so willing to "help" him dress up. We had fun... Haha...

We started the game with having some of those dressed up leaders in their roles to go to the dorms to wake the people up in a very nice and funny tone at 5am... "Good morning! Welcome to St Francis Town." You can imagine the bewilderment on their faces...

Then we had another drama king, Quan Han the Beggar... He was such a sport.

He reali reali reali acted like a beggar to "test" the people in the game...

I would never have believed that Quanhan is capable of all that if I had not seen it myself... O My... Salute u Quanhan!!

The camp was very very for the leaders as we had very little sleep starting the Thu before our camp on Sunday. Wenling and Shilin hardly slept at all... TWO superwomen... Aiyo... By the 2nd day of the camp, the male leaders and helpers are half-dead liao.

Well, it was a special camp for me or rather the guys in N262. Seriously, they were the sort that totally dislike camps. But seeing that they were of such a sport to be involved in the sports & games, make me feel so happy for them. A little breakthrough for them... Also, Sean won the superstar of the camp!! Hooray!! So proud of him. He's so charming la... During Sean's performance, the rest of the guys went up the stage and started dancing... Wow.... O man... They reali had fun... I must also mention that Adam was nominated as one of the top 3 "SEOW ON" of the camp!!! WOW.... Actually, Nicholas was also voted to be one of those "SEOW ON" just that he's probably the 4th one. WOW... I was so so so surprised that they were so on in the camp... Haha... They were reali such a sport.....

My guys have grown up! I am so happy... So heartwarming for me as we close the year... What a right mood for Xmas... A season of love...

Merry Xmas!

O My! Female eating fries double risk of cancer!!!

I just read this in ST!!!

Tucking into french fries? Think twice if you're female

The risk of certain cancers is doubled for women who eat such food

LONDON - WOMEN who regularly tuck into a bag of chips or french fries now have more to worry about than their waistlines - a new study suggests they could also be doubling their risk of cancer.

In 2002, scientists sparked a worldwide alert by warning that many everyday foods contained a chemical called acrylamide, which was thought to be carcinogenic.

My goodness.... Looks like i gotta bid goodbye to my beloved fries and potato chips.... Boo Hoo!!!!!!!!! Just the thought of it is such an agony... Let me go home quick to finish up my last packet of chips. Haha.

BTW, Pastor Yock Kiang just told us that in Indonesia, they use COKE to wash away stubborn stains in toilet bowls or anywhere else. So coke-lovers pls start evaluating your intake of coke. It is probably "washing" your stomach too much. Stop it soon! Haha. (I must make someone else's life miserable since I'm rather miserable now. No more chips??!!!!  I'm so lost now...)

My heart aches to see such a thing happened. God forgives. Have you repented? I'm praying for you.

Cute angel?

Webfetti.com

Is this cute? Haha... exploring some html stuff.

So why this cute angel? In this season of being SOOooooo busy with all the coming camps & Xmas SVCs, we should always remember to be an "angel" to those around us. Who knows? I may just need an "angel" the most this season. So if you are cute, be an angel too!

You do what you ought to

My day started with cramps... bad cramps... it lasted till about evening before the pain subsided by half. Maybe it's the medicine that's finally working.

Went to attend a funeral wake with the CG in the evening. Somewhere in the midst of the pastor's sharing, I felt a tinge of incompetency in my heart. Well, it wasn't what the pastor was sharing that made me feel this way. In fact, i was half-hibernating and not listening(oops!).... But I was feeling somehow down. And i tried to talked myself out of it... "Von, it's one of your cycles of feeling low again. Be cool. Dun take it too seriously." Haha.. That's what you become capable of after being a CGL for so long. Haha.

Anyway, my night didn't end with just myself encouraging myself. After the memorial svc, we sticked around for another hour. Laughing and joking. And seeing a gentle side of Tim playing with his baby cousin. The sight is so sweet. So charming... We had never seen that part of him. Tim seems to have grown up even more over the last 2 wks. Haha.

Then Dennis shared 2 testimonies with us. Very encouraging. At least, for me it's uplifting in the spirit. Then Kianyong also shared a testimony. Hearing all these and seeing that they have grown up and broken through so much, i suddenly felt encouraged in my spirit. It feels good.

We left the wake for the public transport back home. While waiting at the bus-stop, Jackie returned a book, Our Holy Calling (written by Ulf Ekman). I haven't read it since i bought it 2wks ago. I read the intro of the book while on the bus back.

It left an imprint: "Our calling is not about ourselves".

My position as a CGL is not about my calling. It's never about myself. It's about the people, the church and its calling.

When you are young, you do whatever you want and desire. But now that you are old...

I read a story...

What do you score?

A young man had been to Wednesday Night Bible study.
The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice the young man couldn't help but wonder, 'Does God still speak to people?'

After service, he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.

It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, 'God...If you still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.'

As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.

He s! hook his head and said out loud, 'God is that you?' He didn't get a re ply and started on toward home. But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk.

The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli.

'Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk.' It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.
As he passed Seventh Street, he again felt the urge, 'Turn down that street.'

This is crazy he thought, and drove on past the intersection. Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street.
At the next intersection, he turned back and head! ed down Seventh.

Half jokingly, he said out loud, 'Okay God, I will.'

He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi-commercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighbourhoods either. The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed.

Again, he sensed something, 'Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street.' The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat.

'Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid.' Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.

Finally, he opened the door, 'Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something, but if they don't answer right away, I am out of here.'

He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear some noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, 'Who is it? What do you want?' Then the door opened before the young man could get away.

The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. 'What is it?'

The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, 'Here, I brought this to you.' The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway.
Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The ma! n had tears streaming down his face.

The man began speaking and half crying, 'We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk.'

His wife in the kitchen yelled out, 'I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?'

The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face.
He knew that God still answers prayers.

THIS IS A SIMPLE TEST.... If you believe that God is alive and well, send this to at least ten people and the person that sent it to you!!!!!!!!

This is so true. Sometimes it's the simplest things that God asks us to do that cause us, if we are obedient to what He's asking, to be able to hear. His voice more clear than ever. Please listen, and obey! It will bless you (and the world). Phil 4:13

This is an easy test - you score 100 or zero. It's your choice.

I croaked at Kbox yesterday

Well well... We went Kbox to celebrate Wenling's birthday yesterday... And I reali croaked while trying to sing... So demoralising... Haha. I must be too excited and exhausted after a 30min walk from Riverwalk to Marina Square. Woosh... Tiring man...

Went home and then, felt hungry again... So my dear MIL cooked for me using the leftover steamboat stuff from Joyce's birthday steamboat that same evening.

YUMMY!!! SLURPPPP!!!

I had a hard time trying to sleep after that. Too full... Haha...

Before I slept, read a Psalm 77 and was very encouraged...

 10 And I said, “This is my anguish;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
 11 I will remember the works of the LORD;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will also meditate on all Your work,
         And talk of Your deeds.
 13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary;
Who is so great a God as our God?
 14 You are the God who does wonders;
You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
15 You have with Your arm redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph.  Selah

I like the attitude. :)

Celebration with Wenling @ Kbox

It's time to blog again

O got so much to write abt last 1 wk....

We had a birthday celebration at Dempsey Hut yestrdy for Pst YK and Wenling. (There are more picures in my photo album)

For those that do not know, they met when they have the same birthday except for the difference in the year they were borned. And they actually met each other when they were celebrating their birthdays with 2 different groups of pp outside... And there begin Pst YK pursuit of his love, Wenling. Hee... Such a nice beginning... Woooo....

We ended the night with a hilarious situation... Again it was Melvin Toh, the "HOT" guy of the night... Haha...

Melvin was sincerely trying to teach Cheryl how to aim and hit the ball right... But imagine him repeating this to Cheryl ... "Cheryl, qing qing. qing qing." Then suddenly, MK mimic in the most mushy tone, "Cheryl, qing qing. qing qing." Ok, we got it. We laughed out so loudly!!!

For those that still dun get it... Melvin sounded like he was tell Cheryl... "Cheryl, kiss kiss." "Qing qing" in chinese meant "kiss".

So Melvin became the joke of the night again... Hahahhahaa.... He's so "HOT"... whoo!

Besides, the celebration, we also celebrated Yieling & Terrence coming together in marriage!

Do you see the blue black on my finger? It was the "jie zhou" of my dear... He was a bit impatient and wanted me to shift my chair quickly so I shifted it as fast as I could and then I hit my finger against 2 mental chairs. OUCH!! Tears almost came down........

I didn't managed to catch Melvin on Video while he was being "sabo-ed" and performing a silly dance. Poor Melvin...

And lastly, just want to post some random pic...

That's Jed & Time when they were still adorable... Not so now... *Shake head* hehe

That's $40 worth of pratas for our CG fellowship... The guys can reali eat...........

I'm hungry oreadi. Time for lunch. Later, going to celebrate Wenling's birthday at Kbox...
